IN THIS ARTICLE we head to tipp city ohio near dayton ohio to charleston falls preserve. with several miles of dog friendly hiking trails, a well-marked map with fun trail names, and an iconic waterfall this is a must day hike when in the dayton ohio region!
Charleston Falls Preserves is located in Tipp City Ohio just outside of Dayton and a little over an hour from both Columbus and Cincinnati.
This preserve boats well groomed dog friendly hiking trails that will leap you through fun offshoot names like Redbud Valley and the Golden Hexagon! If you meander all of the different trail options you would be able to hike about 4.5 miles.
Charleston falls has restrooms and picnic tables at the trailhead, easy to follow maps, out and back or loop options, and is open daily until sunset. (When I visited in the winter for instance the parking lot was to be cleared by 630pm and all vehicles still there would be towed.)
Why should I go hike Charleston Falls Preserve?
No I am not comparing Charleston Falls to Iceland but the waterfall looks very similar and when the water is gushing it’s a beautiful falls and a lovely way to enjoy an Ohio Day Hike.

If you are a waterfall lover this is one of the best waterfalls in the state of Ohio! (Some have even nicknamed it the Niagara of Ohio. That’s a bit of a stretch but you get the point from it I hope.)
The waterfall itself is impressive but even more fun to me is hiking down and around it. The rock formations actually reminded me of an epic day hike I did in Iceland!
Overall this is a beautiful area with basic trails that are your standard walk in the woods. Charleston Falls is a great Ohio day hike!
The waterfall, the “cave”, and the rock formations surrounding the waterfalls makes Charleston Falls Preserve a must visit Ohio Day Hike if near the Dayton Ohio region!
