I used my Collapsible LifeStraw six times a day for 18 straight days in my first use of this product! In this article I share what I love about the Lifestraw Collapsible Peak Series in this gear review.

Nothing like a trip to Morocco and into the wilderness to get myself diving headfirst into the LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Bottle and Filter. In this Gear Review blog we share our thoughts on it!

From the LifeStraw website.

There were reports that you could drink the water in Morocco, then others said that you couldn’t drink the water in Morocco, etc.
We decided that it was time to upgrade from our Grayl (which we loved but the old version we had was bulky, small, and hefty and I hadn’t used it since I hiked Half Dome in Yosemite).

With my trip to Morocco on the horizon and a potential big scenic trail hike in the woods in 2023 I felt it was time to ensure I could carry on my luggage en route to Casablanca and not be stuck drinking plastic bottles of water the 2.5 weeks I was in North Africa.

We snagged the LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Bottle and Filter and I must say that…I’m in LOVE!

This is the version that I purchased.

Four Things I love about the LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Filter!

  1. Super compact. I would fill it up and then empty into my stickered out water bottle. This is a 1L so I would do two filters. (I probably filled it 6x a day as I was drinking about 6L of waters a day hiking, surfing, and hanging out in the desert in Morocco. I would roll it up when finished and it basically fit in my pocket.

  2. It works! I didn’t get sick once and I drank the water in Morocco for 18 straight days. I will also say that while bulky the Grayl worked as well for me in India when I tried my friend Laura’s out (she had brought along on a trip) and when hiking in places like Yosemite and Sedona.

  3. This is a combo gear product. The LifeStraw is great for both the wilderness backpacker but also the international traveler. (sadly there are places that clean water is a super big privilege to have, even in places like SW Texas and Michigan because of corruption and inadequate systems for marginalized communities.) Clean water, electricity, and cellphone coverage are Westernized "every day things” that most of the world would beg to have at their disposal at all times. If you want to or enjoy traveling abroad and also into the woods you can use this product a ton.

  4. I could fill it up and then leave it in the car and when my water bottle was emptied then filter in the next round. Having a backup was great!

My only downfall to it I would say is I wish I could have had a 2L one for those backup situations!
(Specifically when I was hiking in the Sahara Desert.)

This product is affordable, helps reduce waste, keeps you possibly from getting sick, and fits in a pocket of your pants when rolled up.

I’ll be using this every time I head into the woods or to a place where I’m advised to not drink the water!

Thanks for reading and let us know if you have tried out a LifeStraw.
